Choosing by Role & PlaystyleTanks (The Vanguard)
Tanks are the frontline, soaking damage and controlling enemies.
  • Templar: The classic tank. Templars have the highest innate defense and strong crowd control. They're beginner-friendly because they survive mistakes easily, making them perfect for learning combat basics.
  • Gladiator: A bruiser who deals heavy AoE damage while still being tanky. If you like dealing damage while holding the frontline, Gladiator offers a balance between offense and durability.

Healers & Support (The Backbone)
These classes keep the group alive and enhance team performance.
  • Cleric: The pure healer. Always in demand for dungeons and raids. They offer strong healing, resurrection abilities, and support spells that can turn the tide in tough fights.
  • Chanter: A hybrid support class. They provide group-wide buffs (Mantras) and some off-healing. Great for players who enjoy influencing battles indirectly and providing tactical support.

Damage Dealers (DPS)
DPS classes focus on taking enemies down quickly. They vary in range, style, and complexity.
  • Assassin: Masters of single-target burst damage and stealth. They shine in PvP and duels but are very fragile. High skill ceiling; perfect if you enjoy precise, high-risk combat.
  • Sorcerer: Explosive ranged casters. Their magical damage is unmatched for PvE but requires careful positioning to avoid being overwhelmed.
  • Ranger (Archer): Ranged specialists who excel at mobility and kiting. Great for solo farming and safely defeating tough bosses from a distance.
  • Elementalist (Spiritmaster): Summon-based tactical DPS. They control pets to tank or attack, making them excellent for solo play and strategic battlefield control.

Key Considerations
  • Manual Combat: There is no auto-combat. Dodging, parrying, and chaining skills effectively are essential. Your inputs matter more than raw stats.
  • Progression: Each class has around 40 skills, but you can equip only a subset. This lets you experiment with builds and customize your playstyle.
  • Trial Period: Many players suggest leveling a character to level 25–30 to unlock passives and fully understand the class before committing to it as your main.

Bottom Line: Choosing a class in Aion 2 is more than picking your favorite fantasy trope. Consider your playstyle, preferred role, and the type of content you enjoy. Take the time to test a few classes early—manual combat and skill mastery mean the right fit can make your adventure far more fun and rewarding.
